The garlics described on this page belong to the Porcelain garlic variety. Porcelains are big, beautiful looking garlics with satiny white wrappers. They keep well, have a strong flavour, and do well under a wide variety of growing conditions. They have 4 to 7 large cloves. The smaller number of cloves means that when used as seed garlic they yield fewer plants. If the scapes are left on the plants to mature, they each produce hundreds of tiny bulbils which can be planted to produce full-sized bulbs in about three years.

Ordering


We will begin taking prepaid orders for garlics in the Main Catalogue (Main) July 2, 2010. Please note the maximum quantities of each strain per customer that may be ordered.

The Collectors Catalogue (CC) will be out mid-August after the harvest has been assessed.

Yugoslavian Porcelain was obtained from a grower in the region and is common in the Okanagan and the Kootenays of British Columbia. Yugoslavian Porcelain is a strong, good-tasting garlic that grows and keeps very well. It usually has 3 to 5 cloves. Main 40 bulb maximum

Please take our comments on flavour with a generous pinch of salt. The apparent strength and flavour of a strain of garlic is an individual perception. Different people under the same circumstances can have diametrically opposed views on the palatability and heat of a strain of garlic.
